Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than 20 years. She currently holds the position of president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the owner of the National Basketball Association. A California native, Buss was raised in an affluent family. Jerry Buss, her father was a successful entrepreneur with a real estate business who later became owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. When her parents broke up in 1972 she felt that they had abandoned her. As she turned 19 old, she began working for the family business as the director of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Later, she established her own Los Angeles Blades professional roller hockey team. Before becoming vice president for the Lakers, she served as president of Great Western Forum. Her father passed away in 2013, and the control for the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family which gave each sibling equal voting rights. She assumed the office as President for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner of Women of Wrestling, a professional promotion of wrestling with its the headquarters located within Los Angeles.
